We are excited to share that Tony Catchot has joined RVi as Principal and Leader of our emerging Campus sector. With more than 35 years of experience, Tony has led or played a critical role in the planning and design of campuses across the nation and abroad. This includes colleges and universities, healthcare, innovation and industrial districts, corporate office parks, and recreation complexes. He is skilled at leading complex planning and design teams and collaborating with host communities to help garner support for proposed initiatives and projects.

Tony began his career at RVi in Austin before becoming Vice President and Campus Planning Studio Director at a large design firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He held that position for 19 years, helping grow the studio into national prominence. Tony also lends the perspective of the client side, having worked as the Assistant University Planner at the University of Michigan (UM) for 10 years, managing the University Planner’s Office and Interior Design Office and serving on the university’s Exterior Elements Design Review Committee. He led and engaged with many renowned architects, planners, and design consultants on many significant university projects. He also managed the University Planner’s Office design review processes and was responsible for coordinating campus construction activities and facilitating project reviews, approvals, and cost-sharing with the local municipalities. He eventually returned to the same Ann Arbor design firm, and most recently worked in Metro Atlanta directing campus planning and design efforts with civil engineering and planning firms before accepting this leadership opportunity with RVi.

Tony is a visionary leader with a passion for building and mentoring talented, diverse teams, whether they are virtual or in-person. As a former client and re-energized consultant, his experiences touch on many of the issues and opportunities our clients face today or will likely see in the future. Together with his colleagues at RVi, he will continue to leverage his diverse expertise and skillset to achieve client and team goals. This means fostering a collaborative environment where well-conceived and technically excellent ideas and solutions emerge. We are happy to welcome Tony back to RVi, and we look forward to him taking our Campus team to the next level!
